The Top 5 Reasons To Expect A New Xbox by 2010

The Xbox360 has had some problems as of late, the ridiculously high failure rate on the Elite and lack of sales, so I decided to make a list of reasons why you can expect a new Xbox by 2010.

#5) The 360 Lacks A Niche'

The 360 currently has issues with appealing to gamers. The PS3 has the hardcore gamers looking for the ultimat in HD. The Wii has the casual gamers looking for a good time. There really isn't an area in between and even if there was, I don't think the 360 would fit in there.

#4) PS3 Is In Direct Competition

Without a foothold under a niche' it is a tough road for the 360. The only niche' it really has to claim has already been accepted as the PS3. The PS3 is in direct competition with the 360 and has been labeled as "the console to have", which will make it really hard for the 360 to survive and do so comfortably.

#3) Limited Titles Overseas

One of the big complaints other countries have had against the 360 is the lack of foreign titles. This probably doesn't go over well in Japan and everyone knows in order to be successful in the console business you have to win in Japan and almost world-wide.

#2) The 360 Has Lost Its Grip

The Xbox360 even at its launch never quite got a foothold in foreign countries, this is a big issue. There was a time early after launch where it had limited success in Europe, that eventually died away, and it never really gained any momentum at all. If the 360 cannot find some kind of grip in a foreign country then it will continue to fail, America cannot completely bail it out.

#1) The Failure Rate

Since the time it was released even until now, the Xbox360 has always had failure problems. It is estimated that the 360's failure rate is right around 30%. Microsoft is losing money everytime theres a failure and essentially customers. No one wants to buy a console that will likely break and make them have to wait for repairs.

These are the looming reasons that will essentially lead to a new Xbox, or maybe a complete exit by Microsoft in the console business.
